seized by strike pickets.

These two men were taken by pickets on the evening of the 3rd on the afternoon of the 4th the Commissioner of Customs came to see me, and I communicated with the Strikers Committee: on the morning of the 5th they were handed over to be dealt with, reasonable prompt action. Moreover the men were journalists and the strikers suspected them of spying on the state of the strike, and took them away for interrogation before release, which compares very favourably with the methods of the Hongkong Government in dealing with Chinese workmen. I trust you will excuse this one mistake of the workmen's guild. I have passed on your expression of thanks to the Headquarters of the Kus-min Tang Army.
